U.S. Army names the BPMTU one of “10 greatest inventions”
The team of engineers from U.S. Army TARDEC (Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center) had a problem: machine gunners on its up-armored Humvees had to suspend firing while rotating their gun turrets, leaving themselves vulnerable to attack. NPC’s solution – the Battery Powered Motorized Traversing Unit – not only did the job, it won recognition by the U.S. Army as one of its 10 Greatest Inventions.
